An Independent Investigator will start looking into allegations of Abuse of Office by current and former University of the South Pacific staff on the 20th this month.
The final investigation report is due by August 16th this year.
The USP Council says the Chairman of the USP Audit and Risk Committee, Mahmood Khan will invite several Independent Investigators for their interest.
A Terms of Reference for the independent investigator has also been drafted and sent to USP Council Members for their approval by tomorrow.
A separate investigation is also being carried out by FICAC in Fiji.
In its meeting in Vanuatu last month, the USP Council said that reflecting the regional nature of the University, they have unanimously resolved that a separate independent investigation will be conducted on its behalf.
The USP Council also supports the investigation by FICAC.
The allegations are laid out in a leaked confidential report which was presented to the Executive Committee of the USP Council in March this year.
The report was put together by USP’s new Vice Chancellor Professor Pal Ahluwalia.
It details allegations of quick appointments and contract renewals for some senior members of the university ‑ many of them work at the Laucala campus in Fiji.
There are also details of alleged breach of policy in past financial decisions as well as questionable promotions and questionable allowances for some staff.
