Sri Lanka beat Afghanistan by 34 runs in their Cricket World Cup match.

Sri Lanka will now face Pakistan this Friday at 9.30pm while Afghanistan will take on New Zealand at 12.30am this Sunday.

Meanwhile, India will play South Africa at 9.30 tonight in their first match of the tournament.

The group stage format is a round‑robin, where all ten teams play each other once, in a single group.

This means a total of 45 matches will be played, with each team playing a total of nine matches.

The top four teams from the group will progress to the knockout stage.

West Indies currently lead the points table, New Zealand are second, Australia are in third place while England are fourth.

The final will be played on the 14th of July.
