Tomu Gaunavou is now Fiji’s Super Middleweight champion after winning through points decision against Abhay Chand last night.

The two fighters fought for the vacant Fijian Super Middleweight Title in the South Pacific Boxing Promotion Battle in the West Boxing Rumble at Prince Charles Park.

Gaunavou is from Nawaqabena in Naitasiri while Chand is from Draiba Boxing Club.

James Singh also won through a technical knock-out against Petero Qica in their Heavyweight contest. Singh was declared the winner in the 8th round.

In the Middleweight division the fight between Sebastian Singh and Siliveni Nawai was declared a draw.

The bout was only accommodated as a contest and not a title fight after Sebastian Singh did not meet the required weight to defend his title. Singh was 1.5 kilograms heavier.

OTHER RESULTS

Jese Ravudi won through points decision against Lepani Levatia in their Super Welterweight contest while Ronald Naidu defeated Saimoni Ratu through points decision in their Welterweight contest.

In the Cruiserweight division Savenaca Naliva won through a technical knockout in Round 5 against Ratu Epeli Naliva.

Ribaraoi Tekiera won through a technical knockout in Round 5 against Maureen Numia Chand in the Women’s Super Lightweight contest.
