Minister for Lands, Ashneel Sudhakar is concerned about the amount of agricultural land lots that are being misused.
The Ministry has identified over 35 agricultural land lots that were given on lease by the Ministry that have been abandoned in the Western Division.
He says land leases will be cancelled if lessees illegally construct structures such as houses, garages and canteens on these land lots.
The minister is urging farmers to make use of the agricultural land for the intended purpose or return it to the ministry so that it could be allocated to those who will utilise it.
Sudhakar says his ministry is screening all land lots that have been left idle.
He adds these land lots in Rakiraki, Ba, Sigatoka and Tavua and are overgrown with grass, shrub and trees.
