2018 Fiji Sportsman of the Year Alivereti Veitokani will hope to make his appearance in the opening game of the World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup when the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians take on Japan this Saturday.
Veitokani who led the Fijian Drua to their first ever National Rugby Championship last year has been one of the players Flying Fijians coach John McKee has been molding in their two matches against the Maori All Blacks.
Veitokani currently plays for the London Irish and has made 10 appearances scoring four tries.
McKee says Veitokani was impressive in the two games against the Maori All Blacks but with more game time he can be in a better place than before.
He says with the likes of Ben Volavola and other senior players mentoring him, Veitokani can become one of the top first five in the near future.
McKee says every player in the team is vying for a spot in the final squad for the Rugby World Cup so this is an opportunity for these players to step up and show the selectors what they can do.
Fiji will face Japan at 5.50pm this Saturday.
