Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says the late Dixon Seeto was an inspiration to every Fijian striving for the betterment of our country.
While delivering the eulogy at the Church Service at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Suva, Bainimarama paid tribute to Seeto’s passion, purpose and perseverance that he brought to his work, his relationships and the causes he championed.
Seeto was the President of Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association and Chairman of the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Board.
He passed away in a hospital in Brisbane.
Seeto was medically evacuated to Brisbane after a road accident last month.
Bainimarama says Seeto’s advocacy for Fijian tourism has helped the most important sector of Fiji’s economy grow, helping more hard‑working Fijians put food on the table for their families and at a time when we looked to expand opportunity in education, Seeto’s Chairmanship of the Tertiary Scholarship and Loans Board helped empower tens of thousands of young Fijians to pursue their dreams of higher education.
The Prime Minister says Seeto was a man of action; he used his masterful ability to bring people together to turn big plans into real outcomes and he was a man who always put Fiji, his family and his communities first and foremost.
Bainimarama says he and Seeto knew how to get down to the business of building a better Fiji.
He added that the work Dixon has left behind is never finished and it is on us to live up to the enduring legacy Seeto has left unfinished not only today but every day to come.
While delivering his eulogy, Gareth Seeto, son of Dixon Seeto said that he could not state how much he misses his dad and his love for him.
Gareth says that his dad had no bounds in helping other people and he would go out of his way to help people.
The funeral service of the late Dixon Seeto was also attended by the Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum, Cabinet Ministers, members of the diplomatic corp, businesspeople, family members and friends.
