Landowners to take responsibilities in managing their resources and wealth - Meleti Bainimarama

Landowners are to take responsibilities in the management of their resources and wealth.

Permanent Secretary for Itaukei Affairs, Meleti Bainimarama stated this while handing over seven 23 feet fiberglass boats with 60hp (hoursepower) engines for the Mataqali Nawanawa I Sau in Buli-ya, Kadavu.

Bainimarama says what they see today is the management of this Mataqali's resources which is geared towards improving the lives of their family members which is something government has been advocating for in the past years.

Chairman of the Mataqali Nawanawa i Sau trustee, Poasa Qiri says this project began when Pacific Line Production started its shooting of the Survivor series in Buli-ya and after a year they received $300,000 from the production company.

Qiri says these boats will be engaged to support the filming productions that are undertaken in Buli-ya and nearby filming sites.

He also says the trustee plans to invest in properties in Viti Levu.
