The Divisional Police Commander Southern, SSP Filipe Jitoko today met with the CWM Hospital security personnel to enlist their help in working with Police by providing information about crime related activities around the hospital premises.
SSP Jitoko urged the senior staff to push information through the group’s chat platform that was specifically set up to alert Police on crime related issues that take place on their premises.
Police say opportunists continue to use the busy visiting hours to commit robberies within the premises as unsuspected victims are busy visiting their sick relatives.
SSP Jitoko says they are trying to get those involved in petty crimes such as pickpocketing and theft, and criminals are likely to target people during the busy visiting hours.
He says the patients and their families had enough to deal with, and the onus is on Police and security officers to help each other by providing information that can help keep the hospital premises safe from those committing the opportunistic crimes.
He also met with the CWM’s Deputy Director of Nursing to assure them of police’s support.
