New details are emerging in the case of Christopher Narayan who allegedly murdered a 2-year-old girl in Nakasi in March this year.
DPP lawyer, Sujata Lodhia told the Suva High Court today that Narayan allegedly punched the girl during a heated argument with his partner at the time.
Lodhia informed the court that there were eye witnesses.
It was heard in court today that the child had rib fractures and that eight to 10 witnesses are expected to take the stand for the prosecution.
Narayan who is charged with one count of murder is represented by Legal Aid lawyer Shantel Hazelman.
Hazelman informed that court that her client intends to call two witnesses.
The case has been adjourned to 21st August, 2019 for Pre-Trial Conference.
Narayan has been further remanded in custody.
His bail hearing will be held on 6th August, 2019.
