Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says that past leaders cared only about the interests of themselves and their province, rather than the nation as a whole.
Bainimarama highlighted this while opening the Lomaiviti Provincial Council Meeting in Sawaieke in Gau.
He says these leaders failed to tap into the national consciousness and capture the imaginations of what Fiji could achieve but instead, they were stuck with their backwards way of doing things.
Bainiamarama says a nation cannot succeed when one province is given all the attention, while others lag behind.
He says a nation succeeds only when all people are united in common purpose and all communities see the equal benefits of a nation’s success.
The Prime Minister says his government has always stood united in pursuit of a goal that is bigger than any one person, or any one province.
He says unity, equality and inclusivity have been the foundation of their success from day one and that is why the economy is now the strongest it has ever been.
