A remand prisoner who has been on a hunger strike for the past six days will be sent to Saint Giles Hospital tomorrow to be examined with the assistance of the Chinese Embassy.
Chen Yang, who cannot speak in English, has also refused assistance of a counsel.
He was produced in the Suva Magistrates Court.
Yang has been charged with one count of damaging property, one count of assault causing actual bodily harm and one count of making off without payment.
The incident occurred in Nadi in June this year.
The case has been adjourned to the 17th of this month.
