The Fiji Roads Authority has clarified the issue about the Energy Fiji Limited power poles obstructing the cycle lanes on parts of the newly opened section of Kings Road from Nakasi to Rewa Bridge.
They say as explained at the opening of the four‑lane section, there are future works to be done to put cables underground, at the back of the cycle lane. They say the poles cannot be removed until the underground cables are laid and power supply reconnected.
The FRA in the meantime, have closed certain sections of the cycle lane with barricades.
They say they could have held the opening of the four‑lane road until this work had been completed but they felt it more important to open the road to four‑lane traffic as soon as they could.
