The case of the General Secretary of the National Workers Union, Felix Anthony has been stood down until 3pm today.
This is to give time to prosecution to decide whether they have any objections to Anthony's application to travel overseas from this Friday.
Anthony's lawyer Filimoni Vosarogo told the court that his client intends to travel from this Friday to the 20th of October and then from the 25th of October to the 10th of November.
Prosecution then asked the court if the matter could be stood down so that they can get details from their officer in charge of the case on the application made by Vosarogo.
Anthony had pleaded not guilty to a count of malicious act in the Suva Magistrates Court.
It is alleged that Anthony spread by word of mouth false news relating to the expiry of Water Authority of Fiji worker contracts to Fiji Times reporter Felix Chaudhry which tended to create or foster public anxiety.
The alleged incident happened on 26th April this year.
