A 40‑year‑old man who allegedly burgled the house of a 48‑year‑old woman and later raped her in a settlement in Nausori in 2013 is now a free man as his case has been discontinued.
High Court Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe discharged the case this morning after the DPP's Office filed to discontinue the case due to insufficient evidence.
Mubarak Hussein was charged with a count each of burglary, sexual assault and rape.
The woman was allegedly alone in the house at the time of the incident.
