There have been 129 cases this year where Police officers have been victims of Serious Assault.
According to statistics by Police, there have been 30 cases of assault causing actual bodily harm, 8 cases of act with intent to cause grievous harm and 4 cases of common assault.
Meanwhile, three youths are in Police custody after they allegedly threatened a Police Patrol Car Team last night at Namotomoto Village in Nadi.
In a statement, Police say the three suspects when warned to clear the area allegedly threatened the officers stating they would allegedly kill them in a similar way as to how their late comrade died in Lautoka last week.
Police say a back up team was called in and the three were arrested and kept in custody at the Nadi Police Station.
In a separate case, a Police Officer was allegedly assaulted outside the Grantham Police Post while attending to a report of causing trouble.
