Acting Chief Justice Kamal Kumar will give his ruling on notice in the application for a stay order in the case of New Zealand based lawyer, Rajendra Chaudhry who was earlier found guilty of contempt of court.
Chaudhry was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment and also fined $50,000.
Chaudhry had made Facebook posts last year that were defamatory against the Fijian Judicial System which included the Chief Justice, the Chief Registrar and the Fijian Democracy.
He has appealed the judgement and the appeal case will be called on the 29th of January next year.
