Education Minister, Rosy Akbar says 2020 should not be a year where schools can complain that they do not have textbooks as there has not been any change in the curriculum in the last two years.
Akbar says the schools used to purchase textbooks in the past however the Ministry of Education has centralized this and is now distributing textbooks to schools from their headquarters.
She says the Ministry’s target is to finish all distribution of textbooks by next Friday.
The Minister confirms that the Education Ministry has finished distributing textbooks to all rural and maritime schools for the 2020 school year however they are still yet to distribute textbooks to many schools.
The Minister says the Ministry has decided to conduct a textbook audit from this year to see how many books schools still have and the conditions the books are in as the Ministry is spending a lot of money in printing textbooks.
