A 28-year-old farmer who is charged with one count each of Abduction and Defilement will be produced in the Nausori Magistrates Court today.
Police say it is alleged the accused eloped with the 17-year-old student on 31st December last year. This is the day she was missing from home.
Police say the accused met the victim and allegedly took her to his brother’s place in Nasinu and stayed with her.
The victim was reported missing by the village headman on the 1st of January at the Korovou Police Station and upon searching police found her staying with the accused who was subsequently arrested.
