People residing in Nakorotari in Labasa and surrounding areas will now benefit from a bridge that will also be a bypass for Labasa Town.
The project was worth $4.5 million.
While commissioning the project, Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama says government recognises that funding towards infrastructure represents a direct investment in the opportunities available to the Fijian people.
He says the new crossing they have commissioned today is a two-lane structure constructed of solid steel piles.
Bainimarama adds this project meets the high bar of quality mandated by the government and is built to a cyclone-resilient standard with a design life of 100 years.
