A man will be sentenced in the Lautoka High Court this hour for attempting to import $3 million worth of methamphetamine into the country.
Sosiceni Toa was found guilty of attempting to import 21 kilograms of methamphetamine using an industrial pressure cooker in July 2015.
The drugs were detected by Customs Border Patrol Officers at Los Angeles International Airport whereby they alerted the Fiji Police Force.
The agencies involved say the success of this case is a positive result of collaboration between local and international law enforcement agencies including the US Customs and Border Protection, New Zealand Customs Services, Australian Federal Police, Fiji Revenue and Customs Services and the Fiji Police Force.
