The Rotary Club of Suva Peninsula Sunset together with the Suva City Council will be hosting a cleanup project.
This project will be officially launched at 11 am on the 1st of February this year at My Suva Park Bure and will be opened by the Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Premillar Kumar.
Rotary Club of Suva Peninsula Sunset President Anurag Prashant says they are extremely happy that more corporate bodies and volunteers have shown interest in the project and are hoping to see more participants from the members of the public.
He says this is a testament to a growing society of conscientious individuals who care about the environment and will work to ensure that it is protected.
Meanwhile, Suva City Council Chairman Isikeli Tikoduadua says , keeping our town and city clean should be a collective effort and they are always grateful for opportunities to collaborate on such initiatives.
He says keeping cities and towns clean isn't just a job for municipal councils but of the residents as well.
Tikoduadua adds initiatives like this to bring light to how important it is that we work together and responsible individuals who can that practice the responsibility of disposing of rubbish properly.
Consumer Council of Fiji CEO Seema Shandil says this initiative will assist the council in emphasis on critical consumer responsibility and environmental awareness.
