The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has added more charges for suspended police constables, Benedito Bolabiu, Laisenia Naiwau and Lasaro Turagadrau who allegedly assaulted and poured hot water on a suspect in November last year.
Bolabiu now faces a count each of assault causing actual bodily harm, act intended to cause grievous harm and conspiracy to defeat justice and interference with witnesses.
Naiwau and Turagadrau are charged with a count each of assault causing actual bodily harm and aiding and abetting acts intended to cause grievous harm.
They appeared before High Court Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe this morning. Defence lawyer, Ana Tuiketei told the court that her clients' are not ready to take their plea as more charges have been added and part of the information has not been filed by the state.
Bolabiu, Naiwau and Turagadrau will now take their plea on the 27th of this month.
They allegedly unlawfully wounded the man by pouring hot water on his back and hitting his leg with a concrete block at Pacific Harbour Community Post.
Bolabiu, Naiwau and Turagadrau's bail has been extended.
