The CEO of the Tertiary Scholarship and Loans Board, Bobby Maharaj says they are concerned that classes for most of the tertiary institutions have commenced, but there are many sponsored students who are yet to complete their applications or upload the signed bond form and offer letter to get the confirmation letter.
Maharaj says this has seriously affected TSLB’s ability to send the list of sponsored students’ to the respective institutions, to attain the enrollment reports and pay part of the allowances for the first semester.
He says as of Tuesday this week, TSLB has received a total of 8,129 applications of which 6,645 applications have been processed.
However, the number of incomplete applications remains a concern for TSLB.
1,484 applications remain at the incomplete stage. Maharaj says these students risk missing out on the financial assistance available to them for semester 1 of 2020 if they do not complete their application immediately.
He adds that another area that is becoming a serious concern to TSLB is where the applicants who have been approved for financial assistance for semester one and issued with the TSLB bond form and offer letters, have not yet signed and uploaded these documents.
He says all applicants have to complete their applications and submit signed and complete copies of bond forms and offer letters by next Friday.
