A Navua couple is still trying to come to terms with the way their 7 year old daughter was raped on Friday night while she was sleeping at home.
Police confirm that the 7 year old was sleeping with her 2 younger brothers and her elder sister when a man walked into the house, carried her 200 metres from the house and raped her.
Both her parents had gone to church and when they came back home, they could not locate the girl. They then conducted a search.
Police said they eventually located the girl who was crying and feeling weak at about 3am Saturday.
They then rushed the young girl to the Navua Police Station and later to the hospital.
The girl is recovering at the CWM Hospital and police are waiting for her to recover so that she can identify the alleged rapist.
Police are again warning parents to supervise their children during this festive season.
Meanwhile, the Fiji Women's Crisis Center said that there are monsters lurking around our society who prey on children and women.
Coordinator Shamima Ali's comments come after the 7 year old girl was raped on Friday night while she was sleeping at home.
Ali said there has been an increase in such horrific incidents.
