The Suva City Council will ensure that all internet cafes and billiard shops close at 5pm, and all shops close at 9pm, from next Monday.
SCC Public Relations Officer Jillan Hicks said SCC officials were briefed by senior police officers from the Police National Operations Command Centre that they have to relay the message to all internet shops on the matter.
This is after police found out that many students are frequenting the internet and billiard shops in the night.
She admitted that opening hours for internet and billiard shops was not enforced from previous years.
Hicks also said that all shops around the city have to close by 9pm and those who want to operate beyond 9pm need to get a special permit.
