Serious concerns have been raised on women now outliving men in the country.
Social Welfare Minister, Doctor Jiko Luveni said this matter should be urgently addressed as the number of widows and fatherless children is growing and this is resulting in more families depending on the government for assistance.
She said the growing trend is being noticed in many villages around the country.
Doctor Luveni said men should lead healthy lives and relook at their current diet.
Doctor Luveni also highlighted the 2007 census figures where women outnumbered men in the 60 to 79 years by 2,014 and by 902 in the 80 years and above category.
