The Fiji Taxi Union said a taxi fare increase will assist operators in improving the condition of their vehicles.
General Secretary Rishi Ram said taxi operators need to improve their taxi condition however they are not able to do so as they do not generate enough income.
When questioned by Fijivillage on whether taxi operators will now improve their taxi condition to go well with the Code of Conduct which requires drivers to dress professionally and be well mannered, Ram stressed that the taxi conditions will depend on the fare increase.
