Crusaders first five eighth Dan Carter is a possible starter for the game against the Bulls tomorrow night.
Carter is one of two players coach Todd Blackadder will be sweating on, along with captain Kieran Read.
Both players’ prospects looked brighter after training yesterday.
Carter’s hamstring responded well as did No.8 Read’s neck injury.
If Carter does not make it, Matt Berquist will get his first start of the season at first five with Sonny Bill Williams and Robbie Fruean outside him.
Flanker Richie McCaw trained fully with the team following his recovery from a stress fracture in his foot but is not in the frame for tomorrow.
Matt Todd will start in the No.7 jersey again in place of McCaw.
The Crusaders host the Bulls tomorrow at 7.35pm and tonight the Highlanders will take on the Cheetahs at 7:35pm.
