For 16 years the Crusaders and Bulls have dominated the Super rugby landscape.
Their authority has been so prevalent, their title haul so heavy and every other year they have been in the final or lifted the silverware as the Crusaders have seven times and the Bulls on three occasions.
Questions are also mounting about whether the Bulls’ style and lack of variety is suitable for continued success of the Springboks.
Some of those inquiries will be unveiled tomorrow when the Crusaders and Bulls square off.
The Crusaders named their team yesterday to face the Bulls with Dan Carter being replaced by Matt Berquist due to injury.
Injuries have also ruled out lock Sam Whitelock (ankle), with the other change coming in the front row where Ben Franks gets a start at tighthead prop ahead of his brother Owen.
Chris Jack starts alongside Brad Thorn in the second row.
The Crusaders meet the Bulls at 7:35pm tomorrow.
Meanwhile at 7:35pm tonight the Highlanders host the Cheetahs in Dunedin.
