Labasa police are still looking for some people who dug up a grave at Vaturekuka cemetery and stole an imitation necklace and a wrist watch two weeks ago.

Police got confirmation from the deceased relatives that they had left these items in the coffin which went missing after the coffin was dug up.

Police are hoping to make some arrests soon.

Meanwhile, the Prisons Department is now increasing its presence in various Cemeteries around the country to clamp down on people digging up graves and stealing from the dead.

Spokesperson, Josefa Matau said they are liaising with Police on patrolling cemeteries and arresting those who use cemeteries as a drinking spot.

He added that plans are now to fence Vaturekuka Cemetery in Labasa.
