Following 60 incidents of children getting lost at the Vodafone Hibiscus Carnival last year, the committee has introduced wristbands for children this year, a system Fiji Showcase organizers started three years ago.
Vodafone Hibiscus Festival Events Group, Executive Secretary Aqela Cakobau said they are targeting children up to 12 years to have wristbands to ensure that children are safe during the festival.
Meanwhile, final preparations are underway for the biggest festival in the country to kick off in the Capital City.
Cakobau said food, local entertainment, amusement rides, a careers expo, free medical checkups and the agriculture show are some of the highlights of the weeklong festival.
2011 Vodafone Hibiscus carnival officially starts at Albert park tomorrow however the King's Public Judging which has 12 contestants will be held this evening starting at 6.30.
