The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption is trying to locate former Chief Executive Officer of the Fiji Audio Visual Commission, Taniela Bolea who is facing charges before the court.
FICAC Prosecutor Temalesi Waqabaca has asked the court to allow further time for the prosecution to check on the whereabouts of Bolea.
She said that the prosecution is also exploring other avenues to ensure that Bolea attends the court hearing.
Bolea, who is charged by FICAC on four counts of "Abuse of Office", was not present in court earlier this week.
His lawyer Qoriniasi Bale stated that while he is aware that Bolea is in Australia, he does not know his exact whereabouts.
Bale said he is also trying to contact Bolea as he still has legal proceedings pending as well as legal fees owed to him by his client.
Bale told the court that his client’s absence has caused him and his firm embarrassment and that he is considering withdrawing his legal representation.
He told the court that he did not have any objections to an adjournment to allow the prosecution to try and locate his client.
Waqabaca told the court that FICAC would reveal its position at the next court sitting.
Magistrate Thushara Rajasinghe extended the bench warrant for Bolea and directed the prosecution to get further evidence from the Immigration Department to confirm Bolea's arrival and departure.
The matter is adjourned to 6th December to check on Bolea's whereabouts.
