Former General Manager for Fiji National Provident Fund appeared before Justice Priyantha Fernando today to show his documents that he has engaged a legal counsel to represent him in court.

Olota Rokovunisei is charged with extortion by public officer and abuse of office by FICAC.

Rokovunisei is jointly charged with former deputy general manager, Foana Nemani, however Nemani is not in the country.

In court today, he said it would take six weeks from the time he lodged an application for legal aid.

Rokovunisei and Nemani are alleged to have defrauded FNPF by authorizing payments of responsibility allowance for each other.

It is alleged $33,333 was paid to Rokovunisei and $35,911.15 to Nemani without authorization of the board.

The case will be recalled on the 25th of October.
