The Suva Museum Library has added another important historical document to its collection.

This is after a 140-year-old document which belonged to the Cakobau family in Bau was presented to the Museum yesterday.

Registrar of the Fiji Museum Ratu Sela Rayawa said the document was passed to the museum by an Australian elderly couple John Smith and his wife who are currently in Fiji.

Smith said the document was kept by his parents who use to live in Fiji and was sitting in their drawer for a very long time, so they decided to give it as a gift to the Fiji Museum.

Rayawa was grateful that the old document is now part of Fiji’s collection.
