With the festive season around the corner, the streets of Nausori Town will be made safer from street boys and other people who create disturbances to the town public.

Fijivillage received complaints from people in Nausori Town regarding the increasing number of street boys who annoy the general public.

When this question was raised with the Nausori Town Council, CEO Azam Khan said the council is working closely with Police and doing night patrols now to tackle this issue.

He said they have being doing these patrols previously but now police enforcement will increase, to ensure concerns raised by residents are dealt with.

Divisional Police Commander Central and Eastern Marika Yalimaiwai said they have strategic plans and efforts in place to address these issues with the operations beginning this weekend to cut down on the number of street boys and people who create a nuisance to the public.

Yalimaiwai said they will go to certain extents to ensure that people move around safely.
