An investigation is now underway in relation to the death of a man in the Vatukoula Gold Mine this morning.

Vatukoula Gold Mine confirmed in a statement that a rock fell on the man in an underground production area at the mine.

The company said they have suspended operations at the Phillip Shaft for 24 hours where the incident happened.

The Mineral Resources, Police and mine management are involved in the investigation.
