An Average of 150 complaints are received by the Fiji Human Rights Commission a year.
According to the Commission's complaints section, these complaints include discrimination in the work place, racial discrimination and inhumane treatment by the discipline forces.
Today the FHRC is marking World Human Rights Day with an Open Day where the 63 year old Universal Declaration of Human Rights has become a benchmark to defending and promoting human rights for people whereby Article 5 states that no one shall be subjected to torture, cruel, inhumane or degrading treatment or punishment.
