A 28-year-old man of Serua was emotional after the Suva High Court acquitted him of rape today.
It was alleged that the man raped his cousin on the 12th of August 2011 after a funeral in a village.
Two assessors found him not guilty this morning and Judge Paul Madigan concurred with the decision of the two assessors.
Judge Madigan said he is not surprised with the assessors’ verdict as there was inconsistency in the victim’s statement.
