There is already a lot of hype and preparations in many parts of Fiji as people get ready for the Rugby World Cup.

In Mokoisa Village in Kadavu, the men have gone out today to stock up food and firewood that will last for three days as they want to watch their very own Leone Nakarawa.

Speaking from Mokoisa village today, Nakarawa’s cousin Sakeasi Ose said they cannot wait for the games to begin.

Ose added that they had to work together as a village to ensure that the generator fuel does not run out this weekend.

In the village of Naivucini in the highlands of Naitasiri where Lepani Botia comes from, the grog is being dried up outside almost every house.

Botia’s Uncle Ropate Rinakama said they are currently having a circuit meeting in the village where they dedicated a special time to pray for Botia and the team.

Rinakama said they are just overjoyed that Botia is the first from the village to captain a national team to the World Cup as past reps like Ilisoni Namoro, Adriu Rinakama, Malakai Labaibure and Lepani Nabuliwaqa did not achieve the feat.

Rinakama also said Botia has left them speechless when they consider his humble beginnings especially being brought up by a single parent.

In Nadi, the village headman of Dratabu has given the freedom to more than 1000 villagers to cheer and even bang the biscuit tins in support of their son, Samisoni Viriviri and the Digicel Fiji 7's team in Moscow.

Village headman, Iliesa Ranitu said this is the time to support our heros in Moscow and Dratabu villagers have been told to wear black and white and also ensure their television is in good condition.

Ranitu said the men in the village have already prepared the grog as the sessions will start early while they wait for Fiji’s first game against Tonga tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile, Joji Ragamate’s fellow villagers of Naqaravatu, Natewa in Cakaudrove are not worried about anything else but the World Cup.

Ragamate’s cousin Eroni Seru said the TV reception is not a problem for them and even the food.
