A 35 year old woman of Taveuni has died after an alleged abortion.
Regional Police Operations Officer Northern SP Bola Tamanisau has confirmed that the woman allegedly aborted the baby last Thursday but died over the weekend due to blood loss.
Tamanisau said the mother of five was rushed to the Tukavesi hospital from Taveuni in a police boat but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police are awaiting the post mortem report before questioning those who were involved in the alleged abortion.
Also, two men died instantly while a third person is fighting for his life at the CWM hospital after the vehicle they were in was involved in a head on collision in Navua last night.
Police have confirmed that the two died instantly while a passenger received serious injuries and is in critical condition.
He was rushed to the CWM hospital.
Navua Police are investigating the matter and are expected to release more details later this morning.
