A fault in an underground electrical cable caused a big explosion at Fletcher Road this morning.

People residing along the road and other nearby areas heard a loud explosion.

The Fiji Electricity Authority has confirmed that sparks were seen at the explosion area.

The FEA said the area has been isolated and necessary works will be carried out.

People in the Vatuwaqa areas also experienced power outage this morning but it was later normalised.
