The Immigration Department will be open today for issuance of passports to those Fiji nationals who have been issued passport books by the department in the past three-four days.

Director Immigration, Nemani Vuniwaqa said due to the problem in the software of their database they could not issue these books.

He added that they are issuing books normally from today as printers are now working upto standard.

Vuniwaqa added that the immigration officials worked overnight last night to ensure books are ready for issuance.

He further said that books for Western and Northern division was sent via last flight yesterday. 

He said the Immigration Department in Suva, Lautoka, Nadi and outer stations in Labasa and Savusavu will be open from 9am to 1pm today.

Meanwhile, the Immigration Department has over 33,000 blank books enough to last one year.
