The Vodafone Fiji 7s team has stormed into the cup quarter finals of the Dubai 7s after beating a spirited Argentina outfit 33 - 21 in their last pool match.
Fiji struck first in the first half with a try to lanky Semi Kunatani, however Argentina replied with a try to level the scores at seven all.
Robusting rover Savenaca Rawaca and Jasa Veremalua then scored for Fiji while Argentina pounced on a mistake by captain Osea Kolinisau to score right at halftime as Fiji led 19-14 at the breather.
In the second half the Argentinians scored a try to lead 21-19 and a late surge from Fiji saw captain Osea Kolinisau and Semi Kunatani scoring late in the match as Fiji now proceeds through the cup quarter finals.
Fiji will now meet Wales in the first cup quarter final at 8 tonight, followed by Australia and Scotland at 8.22pm, South Africa will take on Argentina at 8.44pm while New Zealand will take on England at 9.06pm.
The Cup semifinals are at 1.55am tomorrow while the Cup final kicks off at 3.42am.
Fiji earlier thrashed France in their first pool match 54-7 and beat Brazil 36-5 in their second pool match.
Meanwhile, Telecom Fijiana lost to Australia in the Cup quarter final 47-0 in the Womens Competition.
New Zealand beat the defending champion Australia 35-27 in the Cup final.
