Prison Escapee Deshwar Dutt who was on run for nineteen days appeared in a special sitting in the Nadi Magistrates Court this afternoon.
He was arrested by Police on Wednesday.
The 37-year-old who was handed a 15-year prison sentence for aggravated robbery last year appeared before Magistrate Mosese Naivalu.
He is charged with two counts of Aggravated Robbery, one count of Aggravated Burglary and Theft and one count of Escaping from Lawful Custody and Serious Assault.
It is alleged that Dutt and others stole several cash and items including jewellery to the total value of more $100,000 from the 17th to 22nd of last month.
Dutt’s aggravated robbery and burglary cases have been transferred to the Lautoka High Court and will be called for mention on the 17th of this month.
As for the case of escaping from lawful custody, Dutt has pleaded not guilty and has waived his right to counsel.
This case has been adjourned to the 5th of March this year.
Magistrate Naivalu has ordered that the accused be escorted to Naboro Maximum Prison.
The accused made no complaints in court.
