A man who allegedly raped a 12-year-old girl in Lakena and then tried to run her over before attempting to rape another girl last week has been charged and will be produced in the Nausori Magistrates Court today.
He is charged with one count of abduction of a person under 18 years with the intent to have carnal knowledge, wrongful confinement, indecently annoying any person, assault with intent to commit rape and rape.
The man had offered the 12-year-old girl a ride and took her to Lakena where he allegedly raped her.
The girl managed to fight off her attacker and freed herself and it is alleged the man then tried to run the victim over with his car.
Late Thursday, the man allegedly tried to lure another girl in a similar way however she managed to fight off the man where Police was then able to get a clear description of the vehicle.
He was arrested near Naduruloulou.
