The school manager of Gram Sangathan School in Buiduna, Nausori says they have closed a classroom and a toilet in their school.
Ravindra Prasad says this classroom was occupied Year 1 students and they have moved the students in the Year 2 classroom.
Prasad says they had to take this action as the Year 1 classroom and the toilet were near the area where a major landslide took place took weeks ago.
A four-classroom block is currently sitting next to the area where the landslide took place and immediate action is required.
We have sent questions to the Ministry of Education and a response is expected today.
The Ministry had confirmed to us earlier that they will be signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the contractor last week and work on building a retaining wall will start soon after the signing.
Prasad says this has not eventuated and there is a real threat to the lives of students and teachers.
