The 18-year-old woman who was allegedly abducted and raped by a taxi driver in 2014 has told the court that the accused, Umendra Kumar had taken her phone when they were at his uncle's house in Rakiraki.
The 33‑year‑old taxi driver is charged with a count of abduction and three counts of rape.
It is alleged that Umendra Kumar had abducted the 14‑year‑old girl from Nasinu and took her to Nadi, Lautoka and Rakiraki and raped her on three separate days.
The victim told the court that when she woke up on the 15th of January 2014, she found Kumar next to her after which she left the room and went outside.
The victim also revealed that her friend was also with her and they were both thinking of ways to contact their parents.
The court heard that when Kumar had gone outside to drink grog, the woman entered the room to search for her phone which she found in Kumar's clothes.
The victim told the court that she had gone to the toilet, where she sent her mother a call back message and her mother called her within half a minute.
She said that she told her mother about what had happened to her and her friend and informed her mother where she was.
The victim further stated that Kumar ran towards the fence and wanted to jump and run towards the bushes when the Police Officers came to the house to arrest him.
However, the officers caught him.
She told the court that after this incident, she had to change her school because students had heard about the incident and would continuously ask her if she had been raped.
The case will continue tomorrow.
