More than 50,000 marijuana plants were uprooted last year through the Duavata Community Policing initiative.
Minister for Defence and National Security Ratu Inoke Kubuabola has told parliament the Fiji Police Force conducted a total of 4,877 Community Policing Activities in 2017.
He says through the Duavata Community Policing initiative 727 drug arrests were made in 2017.
Kubuabola also said they were able to confiscate 1,000 marijuana plants helping reduce overall crime last year by 9%.
Kubuabola was responding to a question by Opposition MP Mosese Bulitavu about the effectiveness of the Duavata initiative.
