The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team completed their final preparations in Fiji at the Uprising Beach Resort grounds today before they head out to the Hong Kong 7s and the Commonwealth Games tomorrow.
During a scrimmage session with the Elim Brothers 7s team which is coached by former national rep Sireli Bobo, coach Gareth Baber confirmed that some of the players including captain Jerry Tuwai, Jasa Veremalua, Mesulame Kunavula and Vatemo Ravouvou did not take part in today’s session as they were down with a flu.
However, Baber says this will not affect their overall preparations as those players are recovering well.
With rain also expected in Hong Kong, Baber was pleased with how they controlled the game in wet conditions such as today.
Baber will name his team to Hong Kong this afternoon.
The national side will leave for Hong Kong tomorrow.
Fiji will play Samoa at 12.43am next Saturday in their first pool match of the Hong Kong 7s, we then play Russia at 5.54pm next Saturday and then take on New Zealand at 9.54pm next Saturday.
