An employee of the Ministry of Sugar was produced in the Lautoka Magistrates Court on corruption charges.

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption charged Elizabeth Cokomata for one count of General Dishonesty Causing a Loss.

Cokomata appeared before Magistrate Mosese Naivalu and is alleged to have falsified a receipt and claimed accommodation allowance from the Ministry of Sugar with the intention of dishonestly obtaining a gain of $675.00 in 2016.

She was released on bail after two sureties were produced with strict bail conditions and a stop departure has been issued accordingly.

The matter has been adjourned to 31st July for second phase disclosures to be served.
